Rachel Ryan is a Human Resources executive and organizational psychology practitioner with expertise in enterprise talent strategy, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and strategic HR business partnership.
She is currently, Head of Learning at American Express, where she leads a large global team and the enterprise learning strategy, overseeing leadership development, business learning, leader assessments, team effectiveness, compliance learning, and career growth initiatives. She has led the transformation of the enterprise learning ecosystem, building new capabilities and aligning learning strategy with evolving business priorities.
Over the course of her career, Rachel has held leadership roles across Talent Management, Organizational Development, Inclusion & Diversity, Leadership & Learning, Chief of Staff, and HR Business Partnership, partnering with senior leaders to drive organizational performance, enable transformation, and strengthen leadership capability. Having led both enterprise Centers of Excellence and strategic HR business partner organizations, she brings a distinctive ability to connect talent strategy with business execution.
Rachel's leadership is grounded in organizational psychology and an evidence-based approach to developing people and organizations. She studied psychology at New York University, earned a master's in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Baruch College, and completed doctoral coursework at The Graduate Center, CUNY. Combined with leadership experience across HR Centers of Excellence and business partner roles, this foundation enables her to translate behavioral science into practical strategies that strengthen organizations and drive business performance.
