Ask a Debt Expert™

Turning financial news into financial help

Financial challenges affect millions of Americans, but knowing where to turn for trustworthy guidance isn't always easy. That's why Money Management International (MMI) created Ask a Debt Expert™, an innovative media partnership initiative that connects consumers with experienced nonprofit financial counselors through free, private, live online chats.

Working with trusted news organizations and digital platforms across the country, MMI brings financial guidance directly to audiences where they already turn for news and information.

Whether someone is struggling with credit card debt, juggling monthly bills, or simply looking for a way forward, Ask a Debt Expert offers an opportunity to ask questions, explore options, and take the next step toward financial stability without judgment.

How it works

  1. Identify an opportunity. MMI collaborates with a media partner to identify a timely financial topic or community need. MMI provides data, media assets, and characters to interview.
  2. Connect audiences with experts. MMI provides experienced nonprofit financial counselors to answer questions during a scheduled live event.
  3. Make it easy to participate. Audiences are invited to submit questions through a private digital chat experience, accessible from their own devices via QR code or website.
  4. Extend the impact. Participating news organizations can incorporate the event into their reporting and community outreach, helping audiences move from awareness to action.

Making an impact, one conversation at a time

Since launching in 2026, Ask a Debt Expert has connected thousands of consumers with trusted financial guidance through partnerships with news organizations in communities across the country.

Behind every conversation is someone taking a step toward greater financial confidence. Some are exploring their options for managing debt. Others are looking for help balancing expenses, understanding credit, or deciding what to do next.

Whatever their circumstances, participants are provided with the opportunity to connect with knowledgeable professionals who can help them make informed financial decisions.

MMI is proud to collaborate with news organizations that share our commitment to helping people navigate financial challenges. Each event brings together the reach and credibility of a trusted media organization with MMI's decades of experience providing nonprofit financial counseling.
