On January 1, 2026, Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc. (HCCI) merged with Money Management International (MMI), the largest nonprofit financial education and counseling organization in the United States.

This merger means more tools, digital resources, and nationwide access for HCCI clients, paired with the same compassionate, expert support you've come to expect from HCCI.

Who is MMI?

MMI (Money Management International) is the nation's largest nonprofit credit counseling agency. For over 60 years, our goal has been to change how America overcomes financial challenges through coaching, innovative programs, and consumer advocacy.

Is there a cost to use your services?

Most counseling and education is provided at no cost. We have a few select low-cost services and there are fees associated with using our debt management plan. However, you may be eligible for reduced or waived fees. Ask your counselor for more details.

Are services available in Spanish?

MMI offers services in Spanish and English.Services are available in English and Spanish. Additional languages are available via an interpreter service.

How do I begin?

Will you talk to my creditors?

All of our counseling sessions are completely confidential. We don’t report anything to credit bureaus, individual creditors, or other parties without permission. We will only contact your creditors if you decide to begin a DMP, in order to set up your repayment plan.

Can you help me repair my credit?

MMI is not a credit repair service. We offer advice and educational materials to help you build a positive credit history. Following this advice may result in a significant improvement in your credit score over time.
