Free financial webinars are a great way to increase your knowledge during Financial Literacy Month. In fact, we've been highlighting a few of our favorite webinar activities on the blog this month (I'm a squiggle - What's your money personality?). This week, MMI offered a webinar on managing income and expenses that discussed the importance of committing to a savings plan. In case you missed it, here is a glimpse at what was covered.

If you’re like most people, you probably feel like you could be better at saving money. A savings plan is essential to any good money management system. Savings can be your parachute when periodic living expenses or unexpected emergency expenses push you over the edge of your budget. Additionally, savings can help you reach your short-, mid-, and long-term financial goals.

 

What portion of your budget is allocated for savings?

Creating a budget can help you see exactly how your money is being spent. Breaking down the percentage of your income being allocated to each of your expense categories can inspire you make the necessary changes to increase the percentage you are saving.
