HOUSTON, TX (August 9, 2005)— Credit Counseling Network (CCN) announced today its merger with Houston-based Money Management International (MMI). Under the merger, CCN and its three Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) branches- CCCS of Greater Fort Worth, CCCS of Washington D.C., and CCCS of the Inland Northwest (headquartered in Spokane, WA)- will become members of MMI’s network of CCCS branches.
CCN formed in 2002 after bringing together three regional CCCS organizations, each with nearly 25 years of experience in financial counseling, money management education, debt management plans, and homeowner counseling and education.
“This merger represents our commitment to providing our community and clients with the highest quality consumer credit counseling services and financial education,” said Joanne Kerstetter, CEO of CCN. “Together, the combined organization will provide consumers with telephone and Internet counseling 24/7, while continuing to provide the traditional in-person counseling and community education programs that local residents have come to value and expect.”
The merger follows a growing trend in the credit counseling industry to combine agency strengths to improve and expand services. CCN and its CCCS partners are the fifteenth agency since 2000 to merge with MMI. Previous mergers include agencies in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Louisiana, Colorado, California, New Jersey, Maine, Oregon and Southern New England.
“This partnership will provide CCN and the CCCS branches with greater resources to serve their local communities,” said Ivan Hand, President and CEO of MMI. “The CCCS team is a valuable part of the local communities they serve, and we hope to continue building on the traditions they have established.”
“MMI brings an industry-leading technology platform and national education campaign that will enhance our ability to effectively and efficiently counsel and educate people about financial issues,” said Kerstetter. “I am proud that our Board of Directors has taken such an important step to better serve the residents of our community.”
Each CCCS branch will operate locally under the CCCS name, and nationally under the name Money Management International. To schedule an appointment, please contact us at 1-866-864-8993.
