Q: What is Journey to Financial Security?

A:

Journey to Financial Security is a series of eight programs designed to improve your financial management skills. Developing wise money management skills requires time and dedication—similar to the things one may encounter while planning and then taking a long trip. We developed this series to serve as a roadmap, of sorts, to help consumers in their journey to become financially secure. The programs can be taught individually, paired by selected topics, or taught as a series, and can be customized for unique audiences.

Q: Does MMI provide financial education for children?

A:

MMI strongly believes that personal finance education in early years is critical for our children's future. Our educators present financial education programs to students from kindergarten to college.

We also provide free money lesson plans and resources that are designed to provide educators with strategies for teaching personal finance education in the classroom. These lessons teach personal finance concepts through the use of children's trade books.

Q: How can I help MMI’s financial education efforts?

A:

There are three main ways you can support MMI’s education efforts: through donations, volunteering, and referrals.

  • MMI relies on the generosity of national and local donors to aid in the development of new programs and to keep our credit counseling and education services free for our clients. MMI offers a variety of funding opportunities that include general counseling support, the development and expansion of community education and outreach programs, technology upgrades, and any special projects of interest to you or your organization.
  • MMI trains, coordinates, and supports a team of volunteer educators who provide financial and credit education in the community. As a Certified Money Management Volunteer, you can help us educate and empower individuals and families to realize their dreams of financial security.
  • Through our referral partner program, your organization is able to provide employees, clients, customers, or members with credit counseling and education programs that you may not be able to provide alone. We work with your organization to develop a program that is tailored to your needs. In the end, we help you produce financially stable employees, clients, customers, or members.
