What was your deal of the year

I know that the New Year should be an opportunity for me to look forward, but I want to dwell on the past for a just a second. With all of the doom and gloom the 2009 economy brought us, there was a bright spot or two. For example, volunteerism was up and (less altruistically) savvy shoppers were able to snag some really great deals!

2009 was a good year if you were in the fortunate position of being able to buy a new car, or were able to travel to Mexico (though the price drop was probably due in part to the Swine Flu epidemic). But there were plenty of deals smaller items too.

I am certain that my favorite discount retailer has been offering a bigger selection of designer label clothing than ever before. However, my deal of the year was actually found at the thrift store. I purchased a sterling silver necklace for $4. So, what was your the deal of the year?
