So far this week, I have identified two styles that can keep people from meeting their financial goals: disconnected and underpowered. The third and last style I came up with is ‘uninterested.’

You might be too indifferent about your financial situation if:

-It been more than two years since you have reviewed your retirement portfolio.
-Money seems to control you rather than you controlling your money.
-You allow things to happen rather than seeking change.

If numbers aren’t your thing, you will have to force yourself to get involved. No one cares more about your money than you. Fortunately, there are many tools (i.e. Quicken, Wesabe, and Mint) that can make it quick and easy to take control. If you find that you are unable or unwilling to break this cycle, consider hiring a professional financial planner to care about your money for you.

To make progress today, visit the library and check out a motivational book like The Millionaire Next Door; The Wealthy Barber; or The Richest Man in Babylon. If you know of another book that should be added to the list, please share your recommendation through the comments section.
